Passports for Kids

FYI, Americans can download the passport applications for themselves and their kids at the website for the U.S. Department of State:

I love the convenience of the internet!

At the Zoo!

The temperatures have dropped, but that's no reason to cross the zoo off your list of sights to see when taking the kids on a trip. Although it's true that some of the outdoor exhibits will be closed, several remain open and the indoor exhibits are still going strong. Your children and you will be able to enjoy the animals without the crowds of summer, and won't need to press through the throngs to see the most popular exhibits. Another bonus is that the animals are often much more active than in the hot days of summer when they are content to lounge in the shade and only open their eyes long enough to flick a fly away.

So bundle up the little ones and head off to the zoo!

The Ice Hotel

One place I'd love to visit is Quebec's Ice Hotel, a hotel carved out of snow and ice each winter.
Take a look at the website: http://www.icehotel-canada.com/en/index.en.php
I mean, talk about your unique adventures! That one would be memorable. Of course the main drawback would be that I hate being cold, and you can't take your winter coat off cause it's so cold. You sleep in furs though, doesn't that sound luxurious? So maybe I'll stay just for one night, just for the experience and spend the rest of the visit elsewhere.

They offer tours for those who want to see the hotel without actually spending the night.
