Actually, I checked the cybersavers fares the day after I booked on Travelocity, and there was a new one to Atlanta for $80 less per person than the travelocity trip. C'est la vie. It's always a gamble - do you wait and see if something better comes up? What if you lose the good fare you have and nothing better comes up? Especially when it's less than two weeks to the trip? Of course the hotel we've got is better, apparently, than the one from the cybersaver trip but $240 is $240, you know?
I checked the Weather website and it looks like for that time of year, Atlanta averages 70 degrees. But sometimes its warmer so I'll bring a mix of shorts and pants so we'll be covered. I've got to dig out our summer clothes, see what still fits, what doesn't, whether we need new swimsuits, all that jazz. Yet I have to travel light, of course, since I'm juggling two kids and luggage. Then there's the Chicago leg of the trip which will be much colder and call for different clothing. Planning, planning, I love planning for a trip.
We'll bring our leapsters for the airport wait and plane rides, and my computer has a dvd drive so the kids can watch a movie in the room in the morning while I'm showering and getting ready.

Atlanta, WooHoo!

Okay, Atlanta is ON! I'm so excited. I wound up not going with the cybersaver fare at Northwest since it cost over $100 more per person than the package I got through travelocity, plus there was a stopover where the travelocity rate had direct flights, and with two small kids, direct is good. Kind of a bummer, because you know I love collecting those frequent flier points, but a savings of $300 is just WAY too much to pass up. We'll be flying out of Chicago, so we can bookend the trip with a visit to my sister, which should be nice. We'll be staying at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Perimeter, which had some good reviews on Trip Advisor and has my 3 requirements - pool, free internet (wireless, no less!), and free breakfast. It's also close to a subway station, so I decided to forego a rental car and rely on cabs and trains. We live in a small town, so subways are an ADVENTURE to my kids and part of the whole travel experience.

Atlanta
Busy, busy, busy. I just decided kind of spur of the moment to take a trip for Spring Break, which starts on the 28th for my kids and lasts through Easter. I had planned a couple of little road trips - Chicago, Ohio. But then I decided to see what Northwest had by way of Cybersaver fares. Two weeks before departure they post some relatively inexpensive airfare/hotel packages, an I thought I'd see what they have. Well, I was looking for something warm, and Atlanta popped up. I've never been to Atlanta. Well, driving through on the way to Florida doesn't count. So Atlanta it is. Well actually, they had Atlanta for next weekend, so I'm assuming they'll have it for the weekend after that, but I should find out for sure today. Atlanta. The south. What a fun experience for my kids - they've never been down south before. Well, Florida, but that doesn't seem like the south, somehow. Isn't that funny?
So Atlanta. There's a big Coca Cola thing to see, a good Science museum, a puppet museum. Plenty of great family activities. Plus we can try the local delicacies. Introduce the kids to grits. Atlanta - I'm excited.
