The second day of our stay we went to the St. Louis Zoo. It was about 90 degrees out, one of those days that made me say, "Next summer we're vacationing in Canada."

Still, we're a pretty hardy group, and the zoo had places spraying cool water, and places to buy cold drinks, and we survived it.
The animals were cute, and we got to see some elephants, which was a first for my kids. I don't think there's any elephants in Michigan. There used to be some in the Detroit Zoo, but they sent them away to an elephant sanctuary in Tennessee years ago.
So the elephants were very cool, and they had lots of them.
We even got to see one of the zoo workers coaxing an elephant into the water to help it cool down. It wasn't an easy task - he didn't want to go in. But she kept throwing food into the water, and finally he couldn't resist anymore and went in after the food. Very cool.
